SaaS
Cloud-based software model in which several customers share a standardized platform and updates are provided centrally and automatically.
SaaS (Software as a Service) describes a cloud operating model in which software is provided via the internet and users do not have to operate their own infrastructure. In the classic SaaS understanding, many customers work on a shared platform (multi-tenant model), which is centrally managed, updated and further developed by the provider. This model is primarily designed for standardized use cases with little individualization.
Typical functions
- Common platform for many customers
- automatic updates controlled by the provider
- limited configuration options
- standardized integrations
Advantages for B2B companies
Classic SaaS enables a quick start, low initial investment and minimal operating costs. This model can make economic sense for simple or less individualized business processes.
Differentiation from classic SaaS models
In contrast to the classic SaaS model, avanta operates dedicated instances with scheduled releases and individual customizability (see avanta SaaS). This makes avanta particularly suitable for complex B2B e-commerce scenarios with ERP-first architecture.
Practical example / industries
Standard SaaS platforms are often used in the B2C environment or for simple B2B applications. However, they reach their functional and organizational limits when it comes to complex industry and process requirements.
